Hawaii is now the 10th state to ban indoor tanning among minors under 18. The new law is effective immediately.

Hawaii  joins Vermont, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oregon, Nevada, Texas, and Washington.

More than 3.5 million skin cancers in more than 2 million people are diagnosed annually. It is estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime and more than 410 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed in Hawaii in 2014, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
