Canady Named New ASPS President

John W. Canady, MD, professor in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at the University of Iowa, has been named the president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Canady will serve a 1-year term as president of the world’s largest plastic surgery association. He has been in practice for the last 18 years, and he has served as the group's president-elect and treasurer as well as a member of its Governance Task Force.

Elected earlier this month at ASPS's annual scientific assembly, Plastic Surgery 2008, Canady will focus on shifting the public’s image of what plastic surgeons do and what plastic surgery is, according to an ASPS news release.
