David J. Goldberg, MD, JD

Using ultrasound-assisted procedures, fatty tissue is removed with the assistance of sound waves which are beyond the range of human hearing. It is an invasive procedure, unlike techniques that use radio frequency (RF) wavelengths to deliver volumetric heat without damaging the epidermis. PSP editor Jeffrey Frentzen talks with David J. Goldberg, MD, JD, about the effectiveness and relative safety of ultrasound- and RF-based approaches. Goldberg completed his dermatology residency and dermatologic surgical fellowship at New York University Medical Center, and is a clinical professor and director of laser research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
