Insurance Program

CosmetAssure offers an insurance program that provides coverage for certain medical complications that arise as a result of designated invasive aesthetic procedures. Coverage is available only for patients of participating board-certified plastic surgeons who are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), or are candidate members of the ASPS who have passed their written plastic surgery board exam. In addition to the program’s current benefit package, patients who undergo a covered procedure can now receive a maximum benefit of $750 to rule out deep-vein thrombosis (DVT). Patients who present with DVT symptoms may seek medical treatment in a nonhospital facility, such as a freestanding radiology center.

Deep-Heating Laser

Cynosure introduces the 1320-nm- wavelength Nd:YAG laser for its Affirm™ workstation for antiaging applications, including skin rejuvenation, wrinkle removal, discoloration correction, and tissue tightening. The laser light is emitted through a proprietary disposable microlens array and incorporates three energy sources. It delivers a deep-heating component for tissue tightening as a result of tissue coagulation. The Affirm couples Cynosure’s Combined Apex Pulse™ (CAP) and Multiplex™ technology into one device. The CAP technology is a high-density disposable lens array that redistributes laser energy in a combination of high- and low-level heat to stimulate and remodel collagen production throughout the treatment area. The system uses the patent-pending Multiplex technology to allow rapid sequential emission of light at two wavelengths—1320 nm and 1440 nm—from the same optical fiber, with a short delay between fixed pulses.
