Oil-Free Makeup
Absence Primer by Jane Iredale—The Skin Care Makeup® absorbs oil, controls overactive sebaceous glands, and regulates the pH balance of the skin. Absence features hydrated silica, which acts like a liposome. The hydrated silica forms a sphere with extracts of green tea, pomegranate, and seaweed that are attached to the outside of the sphere. The inside of the sphere is filled with seaweed compounds that are released by the action of body heat. The seaweeds reduce sebaceous hypersecretion. The empty silica shell begins to absorb sebum without affecting the moisture on the skin, because hydrated silica can hold seven times its molecular weight in oil. By encapsulating the oil, it forms a barrier between it and the makeup so that the wearer can stay oil-free all day. Absence also contains titanium and micronized zinc oxide for broad-spectrum SPF 15 protection. The makeup looks white in the compact, but it is transparent when applied. Absence is for patients with lighter skin tones. A second color, Absence 2, is available for those with darker complexions.
