Coapt Systems Inc, of Palo Alto, Calif., is ready to begin shipments of Hydrellex2122, a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler for the treatment of facial wrinkles.

According to the company, Hydrelle is the first hyaluronic acid filler with US Food and Drug Administration clearance that is formulated with an anesthetic (lidocaine). This aims to provide a more comfortable injection experience for patients.

Coapt says Hydrelle is a cost-effective filler option, with patients requiring approximately 50% of typical injection volumes. It is indicated for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.  The most common side effects were injection site reactions of swelling, redness, bumps, bruising and tenderness.

Anika Therapeutics designed, developed and manufactured the product, which Coapt Systems will exclusively distribute, Hydrelle is formulated for durability based on its proprietary cross-linking technology and the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid.
