More than 500 physicians and surgical assistants from around the world dedicated to advancing the art and science of hair restoration are expected to attend the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery’s (ISHRS) 15th Annual scientific meeting from September 26 to 30 at the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.

"The demand for hair restoration procedures that deliver natural-looking, permanent results that are virtually undetectable has never been stronger," said Paul C. Cotterill, MD, president of the ISHRS. "This meeting offers our members access to an unrivaled CME educational program to meet this increasing demand, including live surgeries transmitted via satellite, numerous opportunities for physicians to hone their clinical skills with hands-on training by expert faculty, and several panels dedicated to sharing best practices to optimize cosmetic outcomes and patient satisfaction."

One of this year’s featured guest speakers is Maria Siemionow, MD, PhD, DSc, professor of surgery, director of plastic surgery research, and head of microsurgery training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, who will speak on "Immunology and Chimerisation of Scalp Allografts and Medical Immunosuppression." Siemionow ‘s current research using hair for hair transplantation from one animal to another animal in experimental models is showing promising results in successfully transplanting this donor hair using minimal amounts of immunosuppressant drugs.
