Researchers estimate the relationship between psoriasis and vitiligo among 120,866 psoriasis cases and 79,907 vitiligo cases, in a study published recently in American Journal of Clinical Dermatology.

In the study, the researchers used a customized Newcastle–Ottawa Scale to evaluate the risk of bias of the included studies. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for case-control and cross-sectional studies.

They observed a significantly enhanced odds for vitiligo in psoriasis cases (OR=2.29), as well as a significantly elevated odds for psoriasis in vitiligo cases (OR=3.43).
