Chinese women spend more than double the amount on plastic surgery each month compared to other women around the world, according to an Allergan report based on a survey by Insight Engineers.

The survey suggests that Chinese women spend about $85 per month on beauty which is more than twice the global average. It is slightly higher than what women in South Korea spend, which is the second largest group in the list.

According to Wang Danru, a plastic surgeon from No. 9 People’s Hospital which is affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, there is a heightened interest in surgical procedures among Chinese women. Chinese women’s obsession with cosmetic surgery stems from wanting to look prettier, which might explain why plastic surgery patients are younger in China compared to other countries.
