Palomar has this week unveiled the new Aspire aesthetic laser platform and Stylus Sculpter laser-assisted liposuction handpiece at the ASLMS.

The Aspire platform focuses on laser-assisted liposuction, as well as other new procedures. According to the company, the Aspire platform will complement the range of aesthetic applications offered by Palomar’s StarLux 500 laser and pulsed-light platform. This product appears to be Palomar's answer to Cynosure's Smartlipo.

From Palomar Medical's press info: "Traditional liposuction is one of the most commonly performed plasticsurgery procedures, according to the 2007 survey from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Laser-assisted liposuction holds out thepromise for a better technique due to the laser’s ability to quickly and electively melt fat and heat surrounding tissue. Palomar’s approach tolaser-assisted liposuction with the Aspire platform and Stylus Sculpterhandpiece is to utilize unique tip designs and selective and efficientwavelengths for melting fat and providing the desired thermal effects onsurrounding tissue."
