The standards of beauty are constantly changing and newly released statistics of plastic surgery procedures that are rising and falling in favor simply prove that fact.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recently released a report showing more patients are focusing on their face and fat, specifically using their own fat to sculpt other parts of their bodies, like their faces, buttocks and breasts.

Getting breast implants doesn’t come without health risks. From infections to more serious conditions, watch the video to learn about the complications that can result from breast augmentation.

“One trend we are seeing with fat involves an increase in fat grafting procedures. Plastic surgeons harvest a patient’s unwanted fat from their abdomen using liposuction and then inject it to lift and rejuvenate other areas such as the face, buttock and even the breast,” said ASPS President Debra Johnson, MD, in a press release. “Because the material injected is the patient’s own fat the results typically last longer than fillers.”

The procedures that have gone way up in the past 15 years include butt augmentation using fat from the patient’s back, lip reduction and upper arm lifts.

The data released also revealed some “problem areas” that we didn’t even know needed fixing or repairing. This includes an upper arm lift, dog bite repair, calf augmentation, and platelet-rich plasma, where doctors use a patient’s own platelets as a filler for their face to reduce wrinkles.
