A survey conducted by treatmentabroad.com reports that in 2007, 100,000 patients traveled abroad for plastic surgery treatments. According to the report, the reason that patients traveled abroad was to avoid infections such as MRSA, to avoid NHS waiting lists, and to save money.

The results of the survey also showed that:

• 97% of patients had a good experience and would be willing to go abroad for treatment again.

• Saving cash was the main motivating factor, but 63% of those who had elective procedures wanted to avoid NHS waiting lists and 56% were worried about infections like MRSA.

According to the report, the top destinations for treatments, include Cyprus (for aesthetic surgery), India (for surgery and scans), and Hungary (for dental treatment). Spain, Belgium, and the Czech Republic are also among the most popular destinations.
