According to a recent report by one of the largest UK-based pet insurance companies, Petplan, pet plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular among the Brits. As such, in 2010 there were 1.5 million pounds worth of claims associated with pet plastic surgery. This represents a 25% increase on the figures registered in 2009.

The most popular forms of cosmetic surgery for pets are chin lift and testicular implantation.

Dr Faulkner of Petplan says that in Britain, however, most pet owners turn to pet cosmetic surgery to rectify medical defects of their pets. Therefore, the treatment cannot and should not be considered cosmetic at all times.
