Dermatologist Fredric Brandt, nicknamed ‘The Baron of Botox’, was one of the world’s top skin experts when his unexpected suicide in 2015 devastated the beauty community. Known for his groundbreaking techniques and light touch with injectable fillers, he left behind a celeb-heavy client list, a thriving practice, and a pioneering skin-care brand. (All hail Pores No More!)

Now, Dr. Brandt Skincare is making sure that their founder’s legacy of aesthetic excellence and innovation lives on, announcing the very first Fredric Brandt, M.D. endowed professorship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The school was Brandt’s alma matter—he completed his residency there and, years later, remained active in the teaching program. (The Dr. Brandt Foundation, a nonprofit partnership with The Miami Foundation, donated a million dollars to the university’s Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery in his honor.)

The chosen one? Antonella Tosti, M.D., professor of clinical dermatology at the Miller School, who is THE lady to see about diseases of the hair and nails. The Magellan of trichology, she developed the trichoscopy technique for diagnosing and following up on hair disease, and wrote the first hair and scalp atlas ever published. (In her spare time, she authored nearly 700 scientific papers, practiced medicine in Miami, gathered dermatological experts for scientific symposia, taught doctors from around the world her technique, and co-founded an annual course in the practical treatment of hair, nails and cosmetology in Capri. Capri! We told you she was smart.)
