0080cmyk2Edwin Williams III, MD, FACS, is the 2015-2016 president of The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).

He’s the founder of Williams Center Plastic Surgery Specialists in Latham, NY, and recently appeared on the cover of Plastic Surgery Practice magazine.

“I am honored to follow my esteemed colleague, outgoing president Dr. Stephen S. Park, and hope to make as big of a difference to the AAFPRS as he did during his tenure, says Dr Williams in a news release. “My primary goal as president is to help our members differentiate themselves from less qualified providers of aesthetic services. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the healthcare landscape is rapidly changing, and we can expect an increasing number of providers entering what they consider a more profitable area of medicine.”

Dr Williams is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Williams is actively involved in continuing medical education and has qualified for the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award. He has participated as a fellowship director of the AAFPRS fellowship program since 1999. During his tenure, he has fostered the surgical expertise of nine facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons.

The AAFPRS represents more than 2,700 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons throughout the world. It is a National Medical Specialty Society of the American Medical Association (AMA), and it holds an official seat in both the AMA House of Delegates and the American College of Surgeons board of governors.
