As part of National Healthy Skin Month in November, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) shares tips to help men take care of their skin.
“Men’s skin care isn’t as taboo anymore as more men embrace ways to take care of their skin at home,” says board-certified dermatologist Anthony Rossi, MD, FAAD, assistant professor of dermatology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, in a media release from AAD.
“Although there are key differences between men and women’s skin—for example, men’s skin is thicker than women’s—the basic elements of an effective skin care plan remain the same,” he adds.
Rossi recommends the following tips to help men develop healthy skincare routines:
- Consider product labels and ingredients;
- Wash your face daily and after exercise;
- Watch your shaving technique;
- Moisturize daily;
- Check your skin regularly; and
- Wear sunscreen whenever outdoors.
The video “Skin Care Tips for Men” is posted on the AAD website and is part of the AAD’s “Video of the Month” series.

It is just as important for men to take care of their skin! Shaving does help forestall aging also by causing an exfoliation. Make sure you are aware of toxic chemicals in your skin care products. You can see a list at http://www.toxinslist.com.
Most important is at least a sunscreen daily. I recommend mine(www.http://www.organoderm.com/product-p/od-protector-MEN.htm) specificaly formulated for men with moisturizers.
