Dr. Amir Dorafshar, who recently arrived to Chicago from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was a leading surgeon on a team that performed a face transplant for Richard Norris in 2012, talked to the Tribune about his experience with face transplants.

Dorafshar, now the chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Rush University Medical Center, said Norris, whose face was disfigured after a gun accident, had 40 reconstructive surgeries before the transplant.
