BTL Aesthetics has chosen Lisa A. Zdinak, MD, medical director of Precision Aesthetics in New York City, to be the first physician educator of the company’s new Emtone cellulite machine.

The Emtone is an FDA-cleared medical device designed to treat cellulite with the simultaneous delivery of two body shaping technologies: monopolar radiofrequency skin-tightening and cellulite busting “target pressure energy” [formerly known as “acoustic wave therapy” or “AWT”].

The ophthalmic plastic surgeon, who is trained in advanced techniques in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, was chosen by BTL in recognition of her pioneering use of the sequential combination of radiofrequency energy and acoustic wave technology. Recognized as a go-to expert in the field of medical skin care, she frequently lectures to medical professionals and media consultants on the latest aesthetic technologies and techniques.

“The new Emtone device granted my wish for the simultaneous delivery of these two powerful body shaping technologies.  The simultaneous delivery of RF and targeted pressure energy led to improved outcomes and faster treatment times for my patients,” says  Zdinak.

As stated in a press release, the combination of thermal monopolar radio frequency and mechanical targeted pressure energy, is what sets Emtone apart from similar treatments available.  According to the company, this solution has a profound effect on connective tissues that lead to cellulite, resulting in increased production of collagen and elastin to effectively address all major contributing factors to cellulite and smooth the appearance of dimpling. The device is also manufactured to be safely used on all skin types with no skin color restrictions.

Clinical studies demonstrate that Emtone is 64% more effective than standalone cellulite treatments for building elastin, and 59% more effective for building collagen. The company says, additionally, Emtone was shown to be 50% faster than standalone therapies with a 90% rate of patient satisfaction.

According to manufacturer, there is no downtime for the Emtone therapy, and most patients undergo four treatments scheduled once or twice a week.  A treatment typically takes about twenty 20 minutes depending on the treated area.  Patients have reported improvements after a single treatment session, and the benefits of Emtone continue to improve over the next three to six months.

Emtone cellulite therapy joins Zdinak’s arsenal of skin tightening and body shaping as the cornerstone of the variety of non-invasive treatment combinations that she offers patients, using advanced technology to achieve a more youthful appearance.
