Modernizing Medicine received multiple accolades for its specialty specific electronic health records (EHR) system, EMA, from both the SaaS Award and the User Experience (UX) Design Award organizations, the company reports.

EMA was recognized as a SaaS Winner in both the “Best SaaS for Healthcare” and “Best UX or UI Design in a SaaS Product” categories in the global software awards program. The EHR system also received a special mention by the UX Design Awards in the product category, out of 53 nominated submissions.

The native iPad EHR system, EMA, and Modernizing Medicine’s suite of healthcare solutions and services help bring clinical and operational efficiencies to specialty medical practices in the fields of dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery and otolaryngology. The company’s EHR is often cited for its intuitive, touch-based user interface built for and by practicing physicians. The EMA EHR system sets the foundation for the suite of healthcare solutions and services that Modernizing Medicine offers, the release explains.

“It’s quite an honor to have the user experience of our EHR system recognized by two leading industry organizations. Our team takes great pride when we can work together with our product and engineering teams to create an experience that delights our clients.”

— Andrew Schall, senior director of user experience at Modernizing Medicine

“Over the last couple of years, KLAS has published reports on both orthopedics and ophthalmology, and those studies revealed that the customer experience for those using EMA for these specialties is exceptional. Modernizing Medicine appears to be positioning themselves well to not only leverage the latest in cloud delivery, but also smooth and easy user interfaces that help providers deliver faster, more effective care.

“It is exciting to see a vendor step up to the formidable specialty market and deliver this level of experience. We will be watching Modernizing Medicine with great anticipation.”

— Aaron Gleave, KLAS research director – core ambulatory systems

“After much deliberation, the winner of the best UX or UI category is Modernizing Medicine for its EHR system known as EMA. Ultimately, the product seeks to enable better interactions between doctors and patients by reducing well-defined pain points identified via contextual inquiries, surveys and user interviews. They provided clear quantitative and qualitative evidence demonstrating the positive impact on doctors and patients.”

— Graham Beale, the UX/UI design head judge for the SaaS Awards

“By addressing user pain points such as burdensome tasks causing exhaustion and reduced sense of accomplishment, EMA promises ease-of-use and workflow efficiency delivering a seamless user journey across many touchpoints.”

— Layla Keramat, UX Design Awards judge and general manager and executive design director at Spark Reply
