The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS ) recently announced key program details for its 2021 Virtual Annual Scientific Meeting, including an all-new addition to the program: live-streamed surgical procedures on Friday, February 5 and 12, and Saturday, February 13. For the first time ever, AACS meeting attendees will be able to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits while watching experts perform cutting-edge procedures live.

The AACS 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting will be held virtually from Wednesday, February 3 through Sunday, February 28. Attendees will be able to save up to $75 when they register before Saturday, January 16 with advance pricing discounts. Separate pricing tiers are available for physicians, clinical staff, practice staff, and residents, with additional discounts for current AACS members.

The Friday, February 5 Live Surgery: Facelift Techniques session will feature three different procedures. Mike Nayak, MD, a facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon and national lecturer, will stream live from Nayak Plastic Surgery in St. Louis, Miss and demonstrate the deep necklift and deep plane facelift.

After Nayak’s session, AACS will join Joe Niamtu, DMD, at Niamtu Cosmetic Surgery Facial Center in Virginia as he performs a SMAS facelift and necklift. Niamtu is an expert in international cosmetic facial surgery circles and has taught and written extensively about facelifts and other related topics.

To finish the February 5 Facelift Techniques session, viewers will watch Richard D. Gentile, MD, a pioneer of scarless, laser-assisted facelift and necklift procedures, as he presents the energy-driven facelift from the Gentile Facial Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Center in Ohio.

On Friday, February 12, AACS 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting program chair J. Kevin Duplechain, MD, FACS, will moderate a live-streamed session from Southern Surgical Arts in Chattanooga, Tenn. There, Mike Kluska, DO, will perform the “mommy makeover” procedure, including demonstrations of breast augmentation and abdominoplasty. Kluska is a past president of AACS and combines artistic knowledge with many years of surgical experience.

AACS certified fellowship program director Chad Deal, MD, will also perform VASER and hi-def liposuction procedures and a Brazilian butt lift. Deal is known for his extensive knowledge of body anatomy and has been presenting on Brazilian butt lifts for nearly 10 years.

The final live-streamed procedures will be demonstrations of injectables and fillers on February 13. All of AACS’s live-streamed sessions will demonstrate techniques that meeting attendees will be able to incorporate into their own cosmetic surgery practices.

In addition to the Live Surgery sessions, AACS’s 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting also includes master sessions that showcase the latest techniques and research, and connect sessions, conversations around current topics in cosmetic surgery. Both the master sessions and connect sessions feature live Q&A with presenters. The 2021 program also includes education designed for clinical staff, business and practice management sessions, the AACS Business Meeting and Presidential Address with Mark Mandell-Brown, MD, a Women in Cosmetic Surgery Event, and Webster Event to benefit the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation.
