Summer is officially over, and your most sensational summer story poll votes have been tallied.

In an unofficial web-based poll, we asked PSP readers to choose the plastic surgery story that sizzled most during the Summer 2012, and the competition was fierce.

The pros and cons of plastic surgery to prevent bullying tied for first place with the FDA’s approval of a third breast implant. The approval of Sientra’s Silimed line of breast implants drew headlines because it ostensibly broke the duopoly held by Allergan and Mentor, and engendered a whole debate about the precise definition of a gummy bear breast implant. The bullying story also had legs, however, as this has become a hot-button issue in society. The stakes are higher than ever before as the bullied can be taunted 24/7 via social media and texts. There is no safe place, and many plastic surgeons are stepping up to the plate and offering pro bono surgery to some children who are bullied about their appearance. Each of these items got 17% of your votes.

And three stories also tied for 2nd place: The uptick in toe or foot plastic surgery, the Allergan vs. Merz legal brouhaha and the trend of couples nipping and tucking together. These three stories received 16.5% of your votes.

Stay tuned for out next exciting Poll!
