Which Aesthetic Filler Provides Most Patient Satisfaction?

12/14/07

According to a recent study on patient satisfaction of aesthetic fillers treating nasolabial folds, published in the December issue of the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, patients report better results with Bioform Medical’s Radiesse dermal filler compared to Juvederm or Perlane.

The study included 205 patients at five clinical sites in Europe. Researchers injected less Radiesse filler than the other two hyaluronic acid fillers to achieve optimal results. The average total volume of Radiesse injected in two treatment sessions was 2.2cc, compared to 2.9cc of Perlane, 2.9cc of Juvederm 24HV, and 4.8cc of Juvederm 24.

Twelve months after the last injection, patient satisfaction was 90% with Radiesse compared to 48% with Perlane and less than 10% with Juvederm. The results also show that 93% of patients said they were "likely" or "extremely likely" to return for future treatments with Radiesse compared to 38% for Perlane and less than 10% for Juvederm.
